Who owns and operates Stoney Creek?

Stoney Creek is a non-profit corporation owned and operated by a group known as LUTHERANS INCORPORATED FOR ELDERLY (LIFE).  A board of directors affiliated with Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) churches of the greater Milwaukee area is responsible for basic policy.

Who is eligible for residency at Stoney Creek?

Anyone who is 55 years of age or older who is looking for a place to call home without the chores (and taxes) of owning one!

How do I select and apply for a unit?

Depending on upon your needs, your desires, and of course, availability of a unit, you apply by filling out an application form and submitting it, with the required down payment fee.

How are vacancies filled?

All applications are filed chronologically and placed on an active waiting list.  A $100 fee is required for placement on the waiting list.  The fee, however, is non-refundable if you decide to make other living arrangements.

Each unit requires the payment of an initial accommodation fee and thereafter a monthly assessment or maintenance fee.  These two financial requirements are based on the size and type of unit occupied.

What are the basic financial considerations?

The initial accommodation fee provides for your residency in your unit for as long as you live at Stoney Creek.  A portion is set aside in escrow for future refurbishing.  80% of the accommodation fee is guaranteed refundable to the resident or estate within 6 months no matter how long the resident lives at Stoney Creek

Explain what you mean by an accommodation fee...

Yes, there is a RESIDENTIAL CONTRACT for each unit.

Must I sign a contract?

The monthly assessment is simply your pro-rated portion of all costs to keep Stoney Creek Adult Community in operation.  Its use includes among other things, the payment for interior and exterior maintenance, housekeeping in common areas and hallways, necessary staff, and equipment.

What use is made of the monthly maintenance fee?

You may come and go as you please, for an hour or a month's vacation.  However, for your security, notice must be given to the office.  Your unit is your home; your lifestyle and activity continue as in the past.  We ask that you respect the independence and privacy of others living at Stoney Creek.

Can I maintain my independence in privacy?

Overnight guests may stay in your unit.

Is it permissible to have overnight guests?

There is an activities director at Stoney Creek who is responsible for organizing parties, trips, exercise classes, speakers, art classes, concerts, etc. for the enjoyment of the residents. There are also independently organized activities offered, such as a wellness/fitness room and resident-run games, Bible study and devotional times.  While we would encourage the residents to attend planned activities and outings, of course no one will be compelled.  Your time is your own.

Will there be organized activities?

Your personal medical insurance plan would cover the major portion of the costs incurred.  You would be responsible for the continued payment of your monthly maintenance fee.

What if I have to go to the hospital?

No pets will be allowed at Stoney Creek.

May I have a pet?
